Joan of Arc, born in 1412 in Domrémy, France, emerged as a peasant girl guided by divine visions from St. Michael, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret to lead France against English occupation during the Hundred Years' War. At 17, she inspired the French army, securing victories like the lifting of the Siege of Orléans in 1429, earning her the title "Maid of Orleans." Captured in 1430, she faced an unjust trial for heresy and was burned at the stake in 1431. Canonized in 1920, her courage and faith make her a patroness of France and a symbol of steadfast devotion to God’s will.
