Hail the Queen of the Sea with this majestic 12-inch (30.5 cm) Our Lady of Charity statue ~~ the Virgin of El Cobre stands triumphant in blue mantle over stormy waves, holding the Christ Child while three fishermen in their boat reach up in desperation. At 6.5 in wide × 5 in deep × 12 in tall, every hand-painted detail recalls the miracle that made her Cuba’s mother: three men caught in a hurricane, a tiny image on a board marked “I am the Virgin of Charity,” and calm seas the moment they took her aboard. She who saved them from drowning now saves souls from despair. Order now to support stewardship and welcome Cuba’s heavenly patroness home!
Scripture They cried to the Lord in their affliction: and he delivered them out of their distresses.

Three men ~~ two Indians and one African slave ~~ rowed into a monster storm to fetch salt. Waves swallowed hope until a small board floated by bearing a tiny image dry as bone and inscribed “Yo soy la Virgen de la Caridad.” The sea flattened instantly (talk about express delivery!). The statue refused to stay in any church that practiced slavery, so a shrine was built high on a hill where all could reach her. Popes visited, Hemingway donated his Nobel medal, and Cuban exiles carry her image like a passport back home. Patroness of Cuba and every soul lost at sea.
