The Infant Jesus of Prague is a 16th-century statue of the child Jesus, originally from Spain, now in Prague’s Church of Our Lady of Victories. It’s a small, wax-coated wooden figure, 19 inches tall, dressed in royal robes, crowned, and holding a globus cruciger, symbolizing his kingship.
Brought to Prague in 1556 by Maria Manriquez de Lara, it was later given to the Carmelites in 1628 by Princess Polyxena.
After Father Cyril rediscovered it in 1637, it became famous for miracles, linked to its promise: “The more you honor me, the more I will bless you.” It represents the Incarnation—God as a humble child—and inspires trust in divine providence. Devotees pray to it for help with hardships. Its feast is January 14.
